2019 is about to end, and wow- what a year it has been. I didn’t expect that in just a year, I’ll be going into a number of changes and experiences that tested my patience and faith in myself.
Let’s start first with the sad part. Last August, I left my job as a graphic designer/social media manager in a logistics company, and I worked there for almost a year. I transferred to a digital marketing agency, which I thought was the start of my journey to living the dream. However, my abilities as a graphic designer was tested and that was my first time to experience countless of rejections from my designs. I thought that, as a beginner and as someone who learned graphic design on her own, would survive this kind of fast-paced, challenging world, but no. I just stayed there for 2 months and I decided to leave last October.
It was heartbreaking, of course and although this is nothing new, I was almost thinking of giving up. My career life seems to never get better and to be honest, I’m quite lost right now. But then, I decided to never ever let my failures stop me from chasing my dreams and to be successful.
Of course, every cloud has a sliver lining and I can say that happiness took over 2019. One of my travel bucketlist just came true: I traveled to Siargao last May with my family and finally jumped off the famous diving board in Sugba Lagoon!
I finally got to see the beauty of Siargao in person and also Bucas Grande- where we also did a cliff jump! It was a 7-day adventure and although our trip to Korea didn’t pushed through, our trip to Siargao and Bucas Grande make up for it- maybe even more!
I also spent the holy week with my family at Ilocos Norte and just this month, I traveled to Baguio with friends and it’s my first time to travel out-of-town without my parents! It was fun and a liberating experience and It’s good to be back in Baguio after 3 years. I can say that 2019 is also a year of travel for me!
I know that 2019 didn’t come easy as I expected, but this year also let me experienced new things, learned new things and i think that’s enough to say that 2019 was a good year. And I’m thankful for it.
Before, I was worried every new year because I’m not sure of how the year will turn out. But now, I’m grateful and hopeful that even if I might experience hardships that maybe greater than this year, I’m prepared for it. One thing for sure, I will never ever stop believing- and thriving.
Thank you 2019 for all the lessons that you taught me and bring it on 2020! Here’s to the start of another decade and another chance for all of us. Happy New Year Everyone!
