While I was creating my year end blog post for 2017, I wrote there that 2018 would be the year of “Enlightenment”- a year of realizations and changes. And boy, it really came true!
For the first time in my life, I’ve finally achieved a new year resolution last 2018: To follow my heart and pursue graphic design. I can’t believe that in just a year, many things have changed- for the better and sadly, for the worst.
I’ll start with the “worst part”. My relationship of my family with my cousins was torn apart because of money. Money can make you happy, but it can also destroy relationships and even trust. The sad thing is, it’s not my cousins fault but their parents- a lot of manipulation, greed and lies has been done and even if I wanted to help my cousins, it cannot change anything. It’s just heartbreaking that after our happy bonding last March and April, we didn’t see each other again.
For the “better” part, I finally did what I’ve been wanting to do- to pursue graphic design. I studied Multimedia Arts for 6 months, did some freelance work and bam! Just last September, I got a new job as a Multimedia Artist/Social Media Manager. I never expected to be accepted for the job, I mean this is my first time in my career to venture in the field of design. I know that I’m not yet a full graphic artist- actually my dream is really to be a layout graphic artist. I love designing magazines, brochures and flyers. But then, I realized that I need enough experience and work to be able to achieve this, so working as a multimedia artist is now a great start for me.
Also, I’ve finally got my own domain for this blog last June and I’m starting to become more serious in blogging (WOW really hahaha). I’m also thinking of monetizing this blog, because i thought its a good thing when you earn from something you love working on and I love blogging to the core, so let’s see 🙂
I’ve also traveled again with my Family last summer in Matnog, Sorsogon and we went back again in Bicol after 11 years! I got to see again the beauty of Mayon Volcano which has never changed the last time I’ve seen it. I’ve also had a long birthday celebration last May, starting from the weekend overnight with my High School friends at Tagaytay, to a buffet with my family on the night of my birthday. One of the best birthdays ever! 🙂
And last but not the least, my sister passed the board exams and she’s now a registered Medical Technologist! As a treat for her, I paid the overnight accommodation during our stay in Tagaytay last October. The best part of the overnight is that we’re just the three of us siblings, without our parents! FINALLY. Hahaha.
Last year has been crazy, with all the changes that have happened, I still can’t believe that 2018 is already over. However, I realized one thing: 2018 was the year I started to chase my dream and realizing what I need to focus on in my life. I have so many plans for myself this year and I hope that it will all happen :).
Thank you for the memories 2018, and thank you for enlightening me in so many ways. Bring it on 2019!
