Summer 2022

Hello, blog! It’s been a long time since I posted here and guess what, many crazy stuff has happened since I posted. I’ve got a new job, met new people, and finally got the chance to travel again! Without further ado, here are the highlights of my summer 2022:

April 2022

After 5 years, my family and I returned to La Sunshine Beach resort at Dipaculao Aurora. I was glad that after 2 years, I finally got the chance to travel again and return to one of our favorite beach destinations. Before going to La Sunshine, we went first to Caunayan Falls in San Luis, Aurora as a side trip.

The last time we went here was last 2013 and while many things have changed, the beauty of the falls did not. It’s like walking down memory lane and realizing that time has flown so fast, imagine the last time I went here I was still in College! We enjoyed swimming in the falls and the current near the falls added to the thrill.

After our trip to San Luis, we took lunch at Gerry Shan Buffet in Baler and after another 2-hour travel, we finally arrived at La Sunshine. We were so excited to swim on the beach, but to our disappointment, the waves were so big due to LPA (Low-pressure area). The waves are almost 4-5 feet tall so it’s very dangerous to swim, and we might be swept by the current. It was disappointing since I was looking forward to swimming on their beach- it was one of my favorites!

To ease our frustration, we just took a swim in the small falls near the resort and we just did a lot of picture-taking on the seashore. To be honest, the big waves are photography-worthy so somehow it lessens our disappointment.

While we didn’t get a chance to swim on their beach, we still made the most out of our trip by bonding with my family and enjoying what we got. We did stargazing, chilled on the beach while drinking our beers, and ate all day.

After our Dipaculao Aurora trip, we went on Ermita Hill at Baler before we headed home. It’s good to be back after so many years and the view is still great as it was before.

This 3-day trip was worth it and it was a nice break from the city and working life. I was just happy that we could finally travel again!

May 2022

  • San Pablo, Laguna – May 7,2022

Like our trip to Dipaculao Aurora, this is another nostalgic trip since the last time I went there was 6 years ago. Many improvements have been made to the place but the beauty of the lake didn’t change. We rode on the balsa (bamboo raft) where we took our lunch.

At night time, we visited Sampaloc Lake after attending mass at a nearby cathedral. The nostalgia kicked in as I remembered that six years ago, my cousins and I went here and ate street food. Sadly, time has flown so fast, and I missed my cousins- we haven’t been in touch since then.

  • My Birthday! – May 15, 2022

I’ve been dreading this day because I’m just one year closer to turning 30 – how time flies! We just had a simple celebration, and as usual, my family decorated the dining room and I got Nike rubber shoes as a gift- finally! I’m happy that I got to spend my birthday always with my loved ones and still be healthy! Thank you universe for giving me 29 wonderful years, and I’m proud of myself that I’ve made it this far, still alive and kicking.

  • Weekend beach outing at Laiya, Batangas – May 21-22, 2022

Our last shot for summer, we spend the weekend at Alahbiga Resort in Laiya, Batangas. It was our first time there and while the resort was okay, there were many people in the resort which was too noisy so that quite bummed us but anyway, we still had fun. We swam at the beach in the afternoon and good thing it rained because I enjoy swimming on the beach while raining, it’s much more refreshing. I also enjoyed swimming in their pool, especially at night.

That ends our summer getaway for 2022, and finally, this summer granted my wish to travel again! Thanks for the summer memories and I truly hope that the pandemic will soon be over so I can travel to more places. Till next time!
