2020: A year of unexpected happenings and blessings.

In just a day, 2020 will be over, and wow- this year is truly something. I know that 2020 won’t just be an unforgettable year for me but also to everyone. In just a year, we experienced A LOT and we all didn’t see it coming. The Corona Virus Pandemic, the Taal Eruption last January, other natural disasters, and so much more.

When 2020 began, I was in shambles. Last October 2019, I left my job at a marketing agency and I had no work for almost 3 months. I decided to apply for work-at-home jobs and I faced countless rejections and even scams! Until last January, I was hired as a graphic designer in an online apparel shop. Little did I know that choosing a work-from-home job would be the right choice since the Pandemic happened.

2020 was like a break from everything. Our travel plans didn’t push through, my planned hangouts with my friends were canceled and almost half of my year was spent at home. It was not pleasant, yes, but it was a time for me to reflect on what was happening to myself- and to my country. Right now, our country is fucked up because of our incompetent government and I’m proud of myself that I’m now able to speak up against the injustice that is happening in my country and to the rest of the world.

2020 also let me appreciate the small things that I didn’t pay attention to before. Although our long travel plans were canceled, my family and I still managed to have short staycations and hangouts and just from that, I can truly say that I’m blessed and thankful. And last but not least, I’m about to start a new job next year as a graphic designer at a design agency! It’s one of my bucket lists and I know that this would be a big opportunity for me to grow as a graphic designer which has been my passion ever since College.

You are one hell of a ride, 2020 and I know that it’s hard to stay hopeful this 2021, but we must be. We have no choice but to fight and cherish each day because we all deserve to live a better life- and in a better world.

Thank you for the unexpected memories 2020, and together, let’s all be hopeful and courageous to face 2021. Happy New Year Everyone!
