Looking for a cold spring resort in Indang Cavite? Just an hour’s drive from Manila, Villa Filomena Resort is a 3-hectare property that offers natural spring water pools, infinity pools, and cottages for day tours and overnight. We have gone here two times already, both day tour trips. Here’s our Villa Filomena Resort Indang Cavite day tour experience.

Our Villa Filomena Resort Experience

The resort was almost ours during our first time here—there were only 2 to 3 families aside from us. It was a weekday in September, aka rainy season. But we were lucky that day—though it was a bit cloudy, it didn’t rain.

The Pools

My favorite part of the resort is the spacious, clean pools. There are 4 pools in total—1 kiddie pool, 2 infinity pools, and 1 natural spring pool with a slide.

The best part of these pools is that you have an obstructed view of the mountains and greenery while swimming in the infinity pools. At first, it was hard to swim since the water was so cold, but we got used to it after swimming for too long. The bottom infinity pool is 6 feet deep, and since we know how to swim, we stayed in this pool most of the time because it was ours, and no guests were swimming there except us.

The infinity pools are well-maintained, and I love that the chlorine is not strong, so the water does not dry the skin. Lastly, the natural spring pool is located near the three infinity pools. It almost looks like a river because of the greenery surrounding it, but it’s an enclosed pool with natural flowing spring water. The best part of this pool? It has a slide, plus a rope where you can swing like Tarzan and jump into the pool.

Just below the natural pool is a man-made waterfall, which flows to another natural spring pool. We took a shower there, and good thing there were no tourists around.

Our Cottage

We rented the smallest cottage during our first time here, which is good for 2-5 people. Honestly, it’s a bit small for us as a group of 5. The good thing is our cottage is located right beside the pool, and there are a lot of cottages here in the resort. Since that cottage was quite small, we rented the cottage good for 6-10 people during our second time here. It’s a lot better than the previous one, and it’s also near the pool, restaurant, and convenience store.

Al-Fresco Restaurant

During our second time here, we were surprised because it was crowded. It was a weekday, too, but I guess because it was already summer vacation for students, and they went here. We were pretty disappointed because the ambiance was far from the last time we went there. It was noisy, and not to mention, every cottage had its own karaoke. I love karaoke, but in resorts? Absolutely not. We learned later that the resort offers karaoke machines that you can rent. I hope the resort will just build a function room exclusively for guests who want to do karaoke because, honestly, the karaoke noise destroys the peaceful ambiance of the place.

The good thing was that most of the guests left after lunchtime, and around 4 PM, only a few families were left, and no tourists were singing karaoke. Yaay!

Other Attractions: Hanging Bridge, Farm and Mini-Zoo.

One thing about this resort is that it is very huge. Aside from the pools, there’s a hanging bridge, farm, and mini-zoo within the premises. The hanging bridge is near the natural spring pool, and while I’m not afraid of heights, crossing it is quite scary.

After crossing the hanging bridge, we climbed a steep hill and stumbled upon a vast farm and mini zoo.

You can feed the animals there, actually we fed the ostrich some grass. After going to the farm, we went back down to the other side of the resort. There’s another bridge we need to cross, and from the bridge, you can see the beautiful view of the natural pool.

Pros: Big Pools, Tons of cottages, Nice ambiance and landscape, with additional attractions

Before I give my verdict, let’s start with the pros and cons. I really loved swimming in their pools because they’re clean and quite spacious, considering the second time we went here, it was crowded. I also loved that they added a natural pool aside from the infinity pools and a slide too. The surrounding landscape, including the attractions, is also photography-worthy.

Cons: Can get crowded especially during the weekends and holidays, bathrooms are not well-maintained, No cellphone reception.

Crowded places turn me off because they get really noisy and messy. The noise of the karaoke is quite irritating because almost all the cottages have rented a karaoke machine. If you want a peaceful ambiance and truly enjoy the place, go here during the off-season (September-December) and on weekdays.

Another issue is their bathrooms. Their shower rooms have no partition for privacy, so you’ll see other guests taking a bath—which is a bummer, so we just took a shower with our bathing suits on. The bathrooms are also poorly lit, so it’s quite tricky to take a bath, especially at night.

There’s also no cellphone reception here, which is understandable since the resort is located in a heavily forested area that has yet to be developed.

See it or skip it?

Despite the issues, you should definitely see it, just avoid going there during the peak season. The pools and the surrounding landscape did it for me because the usual spring resorts in Cavite and Laguna don’t have enough nature landscapes, and usually, their pools are fewer and smaller in size. Its location is great, too- it’s just an hour’s drive from Manila and just a 30-minute drive to Tagaytay. We went to Tagaytay right after our day tour at Villa Filomena resort, so you can add Tagaytay as your side trip when going here.
